About the role
The position works with individuals and communities to eliminate, prevent and respond to domestic and family and sexual violence by:
- Working with the Gunbalanya Protected House team to provide support to clients at critical times, including intake and exiting the service
- Working closely with local agencies, including government and non-government service providers
- Working closely with community members and local and trusted elders to seek local solutions and support initiatives aimed at reducing domestic, family and sexual violence in the community

Selection criteria
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Relevant qualification in community services, community development, and/or social work
- Previous experience (minimum 2 years) working in remote Aboriginal communities
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by victims of domestic, family and sexual violence
- Demonstrated crisis management experience
- Proven written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Proven history of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with key external stake holders and referrers
- Effective organisational and time management skills
- Sound IT skills including use of database and data reporting programs
- Experience with SHIP online case management system
Requirements/Qualifications
- Eligible to work in Australia and willing to relocate to Gunbalanya
- Valid Police clearance (not older than 6 months from date of issue)
- Valid NT working with children check (Ochre card)
- Current ‘C’ class Driver’s Licence
- Relevant qualification in community services, community development, and/or social work
