Key Responsibilities

1. Estimating & Quantity Take-Offs

- Perform comprehensive quantity take-offs and project estimations.

- Allocate take-off tasks to junior team members as workload demands.

- Review and verify all take-offs prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.

- Identify and resolve discrepancies between project documentation and estimates.

. Drafting & Tekla 3D Modelling

- Prepare proposal and approval drawings using AutoCAD for awarded projects.

- Personally develop detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures for structural and non-structural components.

- Verify all drawings, models, and outputs against project quotations, engineering requirements, and contract documentation.

- Generate and review accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for procurement and loading.

- Draft, issue, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve design clarifications with clients, builders, consultants, and engineers.

- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior detailers to maintain drafting standards and accuracy.

3. Documentation & Quality Control

- Maintain accurate revision registers and project records.

- Conduct quality checks on drawings, models, BOMs, and project documentation.

- Ensure all deliverables comply with company standards, industry requirements, and project specifications.

Team Leadership & Coordination

- Lead and manage the Drafting team, supervise, mentor, and develop junior drafters.

- Review and approve all estimating, drafting, and detailing outputs before release.

- Establish and maintain drafting, modelling, and estimation standards and procedures.

- Coordinate resources, departments and priorities across multiple projects.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential

- Proven experience in structural steel detailing, drafting, and estimating.

- Demonstrated leadership experience managing drafting or detailing teams.

- Robust understanding of steel structures, fabrication, and construction processes.

- Extensive experience managing RFIs, drawing revisions, and project documentation.

- Expert-level proficiency in:

- Tekla Structures

- AutoCAD

- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.

- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- A hands-on attitude with the ability to personally undertake high-volume drafting, modelling, and estimating work when required.

Advantageous

- Knowledge of structural design principles and engineering concepts.

- Experience with process automation and software development.

- Working knowledge of:

- Tekla Api, C#

- ASP.NET Core
