Position Type: Fixed Term Full time until August 2027

Salary Range: LGO4 ($83,385 – $89,379 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience.

Location: Walker Street, Townsville

The Role:

As part of the Finance team, this role is responsible for undertaking key treasury functions on a daily basis to support the continuity of Council services.

Key responsibilities include:

- Monitoring daily cash balances and managing bank transactions
- Completing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Processing payments and receipts through banking platforms
- Process journals and support end-of-month financial activities
- Assisting with investment and debt administration
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and relevant legislation

You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial outcomes, supporting stakeholders, and improving financial practices through collaboration and expertise.

About you:

Do you have experience in a Finance Officer role, providing support within a multi‑disciplinary environment and demonstrating strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability. You model a positive safety culture through visible leadership, adherence to Health and Safety Management Systems, and the exercise of due diligence in meeting compliance and legislative obligations.

Do you have qualifications equivalent to a Certificate IV in Business or are progressing toward a Bachelor degree in Business. Do you have great verbal and written communication skills, outstanding customer service,



and well‑developed interpersonal abilities, with a proven capacity to negotiate, influence, and educate stakeholders.

* The Council contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings subject to the employee contributing a minimum of 6% of their ordinary time earnings.
