About the role

Pacific Community Care is seeking a compassionate, dedicated and local female Disability Support Worker to join our team in Hobart, TAS 7000. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to achieve their goals, maintain their independence, and participate fully in their communities. This position is fundamental to our mission of providing person-centred, high-quality care and support services.

What you'll be doing

1. Providing personalised support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily living activities, including personal care, mobility support, and meal preparation

2. Assisting clients with community participation and social activities to enhance their quality of life and social connections

3. Supporting clients to develop life skills and build independence in areas such as budgeting, shopping, and self-care routines

4. Maintaining detailed and accurate records of support provided and client progress

5. Communicating effectively with clients, their families, and other team members to ensure consistent and coordinated care

6. Promoting a safe setting and adhering to health and safety protocols and client care plans

7. Respecting and upholding client dignity, privacy, and rights in all interactions

8. Responding to clients' changing needs and working collaboratively with the support team to adapt care plans as required

What we're looking for

1. A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care

2.



Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and colleagues

3. Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks

4. Reliability and flexibility to adapt to the casual nature of the role and varying shift schedules

5. A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle (desirable, depending on support locations)

6. A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle is mandatory for all shifts

7. Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

8. Current First Aid and CPR certification must be obtained before starting work

9. A Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance or willingness to apply

10. Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance application must be submitted before starting work

11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organisational and time-management skills

12. Previous experience in disability support, aged care, or related fields is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided

13. A non-judgmental attitude and respect for the diversity and individual choices of clients

14. Australian citizenship is required for this position

15. Candidates must be a minimum of 21 years of age
