Our client is a well-established Perth-based manufacturer specialising in the design and conversion of shipping containers into site offices, accommodation units, storage facilities and custom-built structures.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a reliable and motivated Workshop Hand / Trade Assistant to join their close-knit team. This is an ideal prospect for someone who enjoys variety and wants to expand their skills across multiple trades.
The Role
Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you'll assist with a wide variety of workshop tasks involved in the manufacture and modification of shipping containers. No two days are the same, so we're looking for someone who enjoys variety and isn't afraid to jump in wherever needed.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with container modifications and fit-outs
- Installing wall panels, flooring and internal linings
- Basic MIG welding and fabrication
- Cutting, grinding and preparing steel components
- Using hand and power tools
- General assembly work
- Loading and unloading materials
- Maintaining a clean and safe workshop
- Assisting tradespeople wherever required
About You
Our client is not necessarily looking for a trade qualified person,
however basic welding or fabrication experience will be highly regarded. Candidates with experience in any of the following will be looked on favourably:
- Trade Assistant
- Workshop Hand
- Carpenter
- Boilermaker/Fabricator
- Mechanical Trade Assistant
- Manufacturing or Construction Labourer
Minimum Requirements
- Full Australian Working Rights
- Current Driver's Licence
- Forklift Licence advantageous but not essential
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic & able to work within a team environment
- Able to follow instructions and work safely at all times
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Ability to work across a variety of different tasks each day
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Physically fit and capable of manual work
- Reliable, punctual and committed to ongoing employment
Working Days and Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00am – 3:30pm
Pay Rates
This is a temp-perm opportunity where after a 3-6 month period, you may be offered permanent, full time employment by our client.
- $34.00 - $38.00 per hour (depending on experience)
