About The Role

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a Graduate Labour Relations Advisor. This role provides a structured developmental chance within the Labour Relations Branch, supporting the delivery of effective and contemporary labour relations services. The position contributes to the development, application and promotion of labour relations policies, industrial instruments and procedures, while building capability in stakeholder engagement, research and advisory functions. Working closely with experienced professionals, the Graduate Advisor gains exposure to industrial matters, including participation in consultation and negotiation forums with relevant unions.

In this role, the Graduate Labour Relations Advisor assists in providing advice on the application of industrial instruments and supports the research and analysis of labour relations developments to inform policy and procedural improvements. The position also contributes to the preparation of reports, briefing notes and correspondence, while maintaining accurate records, registers and reporting data. A strong focus is placed on developing service-oriented relationships with key stakeholders, including managers, unions and internal teams, while demonstrating professionalism, ethical behaviour and a commitment to ongoing learning through graduate development opportunities.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have: -

- A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, or a related discipline.

- An understanding of contemporary labour relations principles and practices.

- Well-developed communication skills, including written, verbal and interpersonal capabilities.

- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and autonomously.

- Strong analytical, research and evaluation skills, with the ability to make evidence-based recommendations.

- Demonstrated initiative and sound problem-solving abilities.





- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines and deliver outcomes in a team environment.

This is a fixed term opportunity until February 2028 with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.
