The School of Arts and Humanities

The School of Arts and Humanities (SAH) is one of the largest at ECU with many diverse academic disciplines arranged into three main clusters: Creative Humanities; Psychology, Counselling, and Criminology; and Social Sciences, Social Work, and Youth Work. The School operates across four campuses, with more than 100 academic and professional staff, and has a strong online education presence. The diversity of the School is a strength, enabling interdisciplinary innovation, a sustainable financial platform, and many opportunities for collaborations with industry and community. In 2026, the school will begin to operate its Creative Humanities program from our new ECU City Campus while maintaining and expanding operations at the Joondalup and South-West (regional) campuses and building our program at the newly opened ECU Sri Lanka campus.

About the Opportunity

Working within the collaborative broader Technical Team, the Senior Technical Officer provides a customer-focused comprehensive technical support service of high- standard to academics, general staff and students, ensuring teaching and research opportunities are maximised, and resources are appropriately, economically and correctly handled. The incumbent provides technical advice and instruction to students, and assists with demonstrating the use of various techniques, processes, materials, skills and processes related to the students’ learning.





You will work in a supportive environment as a member of the School’s Technical Team, reporting to the Senior Team Leader. On a day-to-day basis you will work closely with academic and professional colleagues as you support students and academics across a broad range of technical support activities. You will regularly interact with both students and key external stakeholders.

About you

You will be a self-motivated, solutions-focused individual who thrives in a busy and complex environment and enjoys working collaboratively in support of students and colleagues.

To succeed in the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate:

- Relevant tertiary qualification OR the equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.
- High level of customer focused service
- At least two years’ experience operating and supporting Digital Cinema Cameras and their associated equipment within an educational and industry setting.
- Experience supporting and utilizing multiple Non-Linear-Editing software packages in both educational and industry settings.
- Experience designing postproduction workflows in both industry and educational settings
- Experience in postproduction supervision in both industry and educational settings – including the provision of deliverables such as DCP’s for cinema screenings.
- Has experience using and supporting shared storage workflows in an editing and visual effects context.
- Experience developing technical instruction documentation as supporting resources for teaching and learning.
- Experience providing in-class support and technical instruction across both broadcasting and screen production areas.
- Has experience assembling, supporting and operating Virtual Production systems including LED Walls and their associated technologies in an industry setting.
