We are seeking an experienced technology leader to join our Enterprise Platforms team as Senior Leader, NetSec Platforms. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the delivery, stability, security and compliance of the Network and Security platforms that underpin every service our members and staff rely on.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Platforms and leading a team of 8 direct reports, the Senior Leader, NetSec Platforms holds delegated accountability for ensuring all member-facing and member-supporting business functions of the bank can be reliably fulfilled. This includes shaping and implementing the delivery methodology, and securing the right skills, capacity, vendors, budget and operating rhythm to support the platform.
You will represent NetSec Platforms — its health, compliance and lifecycle — at relevant committee meetings, contribute to divisional budget planning as part of the Enterprise Platforms leadership team, and partner closely with stakeholders across the organisation to inform technical direction and strategy for our products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk and Compliance: Own the risk management strategy for NetSec platforms, keeping processes current and consistently exceeding compliance requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert technical leadership and guidance across projects and initiatives, ensuring platforms remain secure, stable and fit for purpose.
- Team Collaboration: Partner closely with product owners, delivery leads and analysts to ensure seamless integration of NetSec platforms with other systems and applications.
- Agile Delivery: Champion agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and drive continuous improvement across the team.
- Mentorship: Coach and develop team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge-sharing.
- Performance Optimisation: Identify bottlenecks and lead initiatives to improve platform performance and reliability.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate technical concepts, project updates and platform enhancements clearly to management, sponsors and cross-functional teams.
- Vendor Management: Proactively manage third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring compliance with People First Bank procedures, regulatory obligations and standards.
- Health & Safety: Prioritise and role-model safe work practices in line with WHS legislation and our Work, Health & Safety Management System.
About You
You are a technology leader with a strong track record of delivering secure, reliable and compliant infrastructure platforms, and a genuine passion for developing high-performing teams.
You'll bring:
- Extensive experience in a related field, ideally within financial services, banking or consulting
- Strong technical/operational experience in infrastructure management, release and configuration management
- Solid project delivery experience as a project manager, delivery leader or solution architect
- Strong understanding of network, security and cloud networking principles and technologies
- Familiarity with relevant governance frameworks (e.g. PCI-DSS, ITIL, ISO)
- Working knowledge of Cisco, Checkpoint and F5 products and platforms
- Proven experience managing multiple internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and change delivery
- Experience leading hybrid teams of internal employees and service providers
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- A track record of building and leading successful, engaged teams
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification (Degree level or higher) in Information Technology, Engineering, Communications or Computer Science
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CCNA, F5, Checkpoint) or equivalent experience in networking and security
