About Compassion
Compassion Australia is a purpose-driven (NFP) Christian organisation committed to releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. Working alongside sponsors, supporters and church partners, we help fund and strengthen local church-led child development programs in over 25 countries, creating lasting impact for children, families and communities.
About the Role
As the National Events Coordinator, you will lead the planning and delivery of high-quality events that bring Compassion Australia's mission to life. Working as part of the Events Centre of Excellence and reporting to the Senior Partnership Manager – Events, Artists & Influencers, you will take ownership of allocated events from concept through to evaluation, coordinating everything from venues and suppliers to budgets, run sheets and onsite logistics.
You'll manage event timelines and workflows, partner closely with churches, venues, suppliers and volunteers, and provide onsite leadership to ensure every event runs smoothly. You'll also help shape and refine Compassion's event frameworks and templates, supporting other teams across the organisation to deliver outstanding event experiences of their own.
It's a role for a natural project manager who thrives on detail, stays calm under pressure, and wants to use their organisational and event-planning skills to help release children from poverty in Jesus' name.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of allocated events, from initial concept through to post-event evaluation.
- Manage event timelines, project plans and workflows in Asana, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
- Coordinate all event logistics, including venues, suppliers, catering, production, AV, travel and accommodation.
- Develop and manage event budgets, purchase orders and invoices, ensuring accurate financial reconciliation.
- Prepare event documentation including run sheets, risk assessments and operational schedules.
- Coordinate volunteer requirements in partnership with the Volunteer Manager.
- Provide onsite leadership during events, ensuring smooth operations and effective issue resolution.
- Support the implementation of Compassion's event frameworks, templates and best practices, and maintain an up-to-date database of suppliers and venues.
- Build trusted relationships with churches, venues, suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver seamless event experiences.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end events, ideally across multiple complex projects simultaneously with competing deadlines.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced skills in project management software Asana or equivalent.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage suppliers and external partners.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt under pressure.
- Financial administration experience, including budgeting and reconciliation.
- Working knowledge of event risk management, WHS requirements, and CRM or event registration platforms.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams, with the ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively.
