We’re a family-owned electrical contracting business based in Cairns, delivering a mix of commercial, industrial, maintenance and project work across Far North Queensland.

We’re an established business entering an exciting stage of growth. Our team works closely together, the owners remain actively involved, and this role will have genuine input into how the business develops and operates moving forward.

As the business grows, we’re looking for an experienced Electrical Operations Supervisor / Estimator to join the team and take on a key role in the next stage of the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

- Independently preparing electrical quotes and estimates

- Reviewing scopes, drawings, specifications and client requirements

- Completing site inspections where required to assess and price works

- Planning jobs before they are allocated to the field team

- Assisting in Scheduling electricians, apprentices and project resources

- Ensuring upcoming jobs have the required information, materials and documentation

- Providing practical technical support to supervisors and field personnel

- Liaising with clients regarding scopes, scheduling, progress and variations

- Coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors

- Monitoring job progress, labour usage, materials and commercial performance

- Identifying and managing variations and changes to scope

- Keeping job information accurate and up to date within Simpro





- Reviewing completed jobs to ensure timesheets, materials, purchase orders, notes, photos and supporting documentation have been captured

- Ensuring jobs are complete and ready for invoicing

- Preparing and running toolbox talks

- Supporting operational meetings and workflow planning

- Helping improve systems, processes and accountability across the business

- Assisting management with the continued development and expansion of the business

About You

You will be an experienced electrical professional who understands both the technical and operational sides of contracting.

You are comfortable making decisions, taking ownership and working through the details required to turn an enquiry into a successfully completed job.

You will ideally have:

- Extensive experience within the electrical contracting industry

- Strong estimating and quoting experience

- The ability to prepare electrical quotations independently

- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications and scopes of work

- Strong technical electrical knowledge

- Experience coordinating tradespeople, apprentices and multiple jobs

- Previous experience as an electrical supervisor, estimator, project coordinator, project manager or operations manager

- Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills

- Commercial awareness, including labour allowances, materials, variations and job costs

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Confidence communicating with clients, builders, suppliers and field staff

- The ability to prioritise competing demands and keep work moving

- Strong attention to detail when reviewing and closing out jobs

- Experience using electrical estimating or job-management software

- Experience with Simpro will be highly regarded

- A current Queensland electrical licence

This is an experienced position and would suit someone who enjoys being involved across the full operation of an electrical business.

You may currently be working as a supervisor or project manager and looking to move into a more office-based operational role, or you may already have experience across estimating, planning and project coordination.
