Southern Employment & Training Network (SETN) is part of the Tasmanian Government’s Regional Jobs Hub Network.

Your opportunity
We are seeking a passionate Youth Local Engagement Officer to join our team on a fixed-term contract until 1 November 2027.
In this role, you will support young people aged 16–25 years to access employment, training and education opportunities. You will build strong relationships with local schools, youth-focused organisations, employers and community partners to help young people overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with schools, principals, wellbeing teams and youth organisations.
- Providing outreach across the Huon Valley, Channel and Bruny Island region.
- Supporting young people through career guidance, job readiness and referrals.
- Connecting employers with local young people and promoting employment opportunities.
- Working in accordance with child-safe principles, organisational policies and legislative requirements.
Our ideal candidate
You:
- are passionate about supporting young people
- have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- have experience in youth work, employment services, education, community services or a related field
- understand the importance of professional boundaries and child-safe practices
- hold a current driver's licence and have access to a vehicle
- hold (or are willing to obtain) a Working with Vulnerable People Registration and National Police Check.
A Certificate IV in Youth Work (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
