We're looking for an experienced Finance Officer with strong bookkeeping and payroll expertise who enjoys improving systems, embracing continuous improvement and using their financial skills to make a real difference.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of the organisation, including bookkeeping, payroll, reporting and compliance. You'll work closely with the Operations Manager, Treasurer and external Chartered Accountants to strengthen our financial systems, support sound financial decision-making and help ensure more resources go directly into client care.
Working approximately 20–25 hours per week, you'll be responsible for:
- Accounts payable and receivable.
- End-to-end payroll using Employment Hero.
- Bank and account reconciliations.
- Client invoicing and debtor management.
- BAS, IAS and ATO reporting.
- Cash flow monitoring.
- Financial reporting and budgeting support.
- Supporting the annual audit process.
- Assisting with grant and funding acquittals.
- Maintaining accurate financial records.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.
Over the coming year,
you'll play a key role in modernising our financial systems as we transition from MYOB to Xero and Employment Hero. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys improving processes, implementing better systems and contributing to the long-term success of the organisation.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Diploma of Accounting, or a related finance qualification; or equivalent demonstrated experience in a Finance Officer or Bookkeeper role.
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, end-to-end payroll and financial administration.
- Experience using Xero or confidence transitioning to Xero.
- Experience with Employment Hero Payroll or a similar cloud-based payroll system.

- Enjoys improving systems and identifying more efficient ways of working.
- Can work independently while collaborating closely with a small management team.
- Has excellent communication skills and a high level of integrity.
- Is committed to supporting a positive workplace culture.
Highly Desirable
- Experience working in aged care, health or community services.
- Understanding of the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), My Aged Care and the upcoming Support at Home program.
- Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation.
- Experience preparing financial reports for Boards or Management Committees.
- Budgeting and cash flow forecasting experience.
- Grant acquittal experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience implementing or improving financial systems.
- Xero Advisor Certification.
- Employment Hero Payroll certification or equivalent experience.
