Ogg & Co Law are seeking a highly organised and experienced Bookkeeper and Administrative Officer to join our team in Roma Qld. The Role
This is a pivotal role withing our firm as the successful candidate will be responsible for directing client enquiries and managing the firm’s day to day transactions and record keeping obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- handle client communications and requests.
- reconcile bank statements, expense claims and credit card transactions, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- prepare month-end statements and reports.
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Oversee trust account management and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare draft financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- process payroll, maintaining compliance with payroll tax, superannuation and statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- prepare and lodge business activity statements (BAS) and GST returns.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Assist the Director in implementing and maintaining effective internal financial and accounting controls.
- Carry out a variety of administrative tasks including sending letters and emails and telephone calls.
- Drafting letters and basic correspondence.
- Opening and closing files.
- General ad-hoc administrative duties.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in financial accounting and bookkeeping, preferably within a law firm.
- Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
While our preference is for a full time, in office role, we are open to varying the work hours and locations for the right applicant. You must be either an Australian Citizen or permanent resident for this role.
Experience in a law firm is not required, however experience with statutory trust accounts would be looked upon favourably.
