Are you an experienced public-practice accountant ready to manage your own client portfolio, lead a capable team and position yourself for future partnership?

Our client is an established three-partner accounting firm in Parramatta with approximately 35 employees, four existing managers and a fee base of around $6 million. Continued growth has created an prospect for an experienced Client Manager to join the firm and assume responsibility for an established portfolio currently managed across the existing leadership team.

The opportunity
You will work directly with the firm’s partners while managing the annual compliance and advisory requirements of your own client base.

You will be supported by senior, intermediate and offshore accountants who operate as part of an integrated team. Your role will involve allocating work, reviewing deliverables, developing staff and ensuring clients receive accurate, timely and commercially valuable advice.

Approximately 80% of the position will involve annual compliance and portfolio management, with the remaining 20% covering advisory, structuring and other value-added client work.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing an established portfolio of business clients
- Overseeing annual accounting and tax compliance
- Reviewing financial statements and tax returns
- Providing business, tax and structuring advice
- Establishing new entities and business structures
- Acting as the principal day-to-day contact for clients
- Allocating and reviewing work completed by team members
- Training, mentoring and developing accounting staff
- Managing workflow, deadlines and client expectations
- Working closely with the partners on complex client matters
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional advisory support

The client portfolio
The firm advises businesses with turnover generally ranging from approximately $2 million to $40 million.

What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will ideally bring:

- Approximately 10 years of public-practice accounting experience
- Experience managing a substantial SME client portfolio
- Strong financial statement and taxation compliance knowledge
- The ability to review work and resolve technical issues
- Business structuring and advisory experience
- Experience supervising, mentoring and training accountants
- Strong workflow and deadline-management skills
- Excellent client communication and relationship-management ability
- Confidence working directly with partners and business owners
- Experience with Xero or comparable cloud-accounting systems
- A genuine interest in progressing into a senior leadership position

Salary and flexibility
The salary for this position is up to $175,000 plus superannuation, depending on the successful candidate’s experience and capability.
