About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.

Innisfail Hospital services include emergency department, general medical and surgical, low risk maternity (3 beds), chemotherapy (4 chairs), and renal dialysis (8 chairs). Innisfail Hospital has 49 inpatient beds and 7 emergency department treatment spaces. Beds include three high dependency unit beds and ten same day beds/bed alternatives.
The hospital serves a population of over 8000 people and is 1.5 hours' drive from Cairns. The Innisfail region is renowned for spectacular waterfalls, fishing, Mission Beach, the Family Islands, and World Heritage rainforest.

The Emergency Department delivers 24-hour emergency services for patients of all ages. The department consists of seven beds,



including three triage beds, two resuscitation bays, a plaster room and two consultation rooms, along with two rapid-track chairs for efficient patient care. We have 24-hour medical presence in the ED with a PHO and SMO on-call for after hours. Innisfail Emergency Department has an average of 48 presentations per day.

About your role:

Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):

- Primary and focused assessments of paediatric and adult patients.
- Performing vital signs, ECG's, urinalysis and other point of care-testing.
- Interfacility transfer of patients.
- Working within a team nursing model.
