FGI Mining Pty Ltd is seeking a detail-driven and proactive Accounts & Payroll Officer to join our Cairns based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across end-to-end accounts and payroll functions, supporting major mining projects across Queensland and beyond.

About the Role

In this hands-on role, you will take ownership of both accounts and payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes.

Key responsibilities include:

- End-to-end Accounts Payable & Receivable (Xero-based)

- Processing a growing payroll, tax, superannuation, and employee entitlements

- Bank and statement reconciliations, resolving discrepancies

- Maintaining supplier, asset, and financial records

- Managing accounts inbox, queries, and stakeholder communication

- Supporting continuous improvement in accounts processes

- Credit applications and general financial administration

- Assisting with ad hoc finance and business tasks

About You

You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy is critical.





To be successful, you will have:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounts and payroll roles

- Qualification in Accounting and or Finance

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll compliance

- Proven experience with Xero, SAP, Hubdoc, and Microsoft Office

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability

- Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Highly regarded:

- Experience within mining, construction, or agriculture sectors

- Previous experience converting over software systems advantageous

Additional Requirements

- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with unrestricted working rights

- Availability for an office-based role (Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm)

- Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks, including:

- National Criminal History Check

- Medical assessment (including drug & alcohol screening)
