Position Summary We're seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Technical Officer to deliver a diverse set of civil infrastructure and capital works projects from planning and design through to construction, completion and handover.
Working across multiple projects, you'll provide technical expertise, manage consultants and contractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard.

Main Responsibilities:
Technical

- Deliver infrastructure and capital works projects through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and reporting to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Coordinate the procurement and contract management of consultants and contractors, including tendering, evaluation, administration and project delivery.
- Prepare project documentation including technical reports, project briefs, business cases and stakeholder updates.
- Undertake technical investigations, planning and engineering assessments to support project delivery.
- Provide specialist engineering advice and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to long-term capital planning and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Procedure, Compliance & Governance

- Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, engineering standards, organisational policies and governance requirements.
- Promote safe work practices and proactively manage project risks.
- Monitor project expenditure and ensure financial accountability across allocated projects.
- Maintain accurate project records and deliver professional communication with stakeholders.

About the Candidate – Essential:

- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline (Construction, Structural, Mechanical or Project Management qualifications will also be considered).




- Demonstrated experience delivering civil infrastructure or capital works projects.
- Experience managing engineering consultants and construction contractors.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and project management principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Current Australian driver's licence.

About the Candidate – Nice to Have:

- Around five or more years' experience in project engineering or infrastructure delivery.
- Experience within local government or other infrastructure asset owners.
- Exposure to capital budgeting and financial management.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
