Who is the Canberra Region Joint Organisation?
The Canberra Region Joint Organisation (CRJO) provides regional leadership and advocates on behalf of 11 member Councils across the South East NSW, comprising the Councils of Bega Valley, Eurobodalla, Goulburn Mulwaree, Hilltops, Queanbeyan-Palerang, Snowy Monaro, Snowy Valleys, Upper Lachlan, Wagga Wagga, Wingecarribee and Yass Valley. Working in partnership with associate members, the ACT Government, and Canberra Airport covering 92,000 sq kms and a population of 800,000.
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to join our small and collaborative team as a Net Zero Project Officer on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2026 (with potential for extension subject to funding availability).
Funded through the NSW Government’s Joint Organisation Net Zero Acceleration (JONZA) Program, this role will support the delivery of regional initiatives that help build capacity, identify opportunities and accelerate the transition to net zero across the CRJO region.
In this role you will:
- Support the delivery of regional net zero projects and initiatives aligned with CRJO’s Statement of Strategic Priorities.
- Coordinate projects, stakeholder engagement activities and regional collaboration opportunities.
- Work with member Councils and partners to identify opportunities that support emissions reduction and sustainability outcomes.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in sustainability, environmental management, or related project delivery,
- Robust coordination, stakeholder engagement,
and project management skills,
- The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities,
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and grant preparation.
Benefits
- A commencing annual salary of $101,717 with progression up to approximately $123,000 dependent upon skills and experience, plus 12% superannuation.
- 35-hour work week with flexible working arrangements/working from home opportunities.
- (4) Four weeks annual, (2) two weeks sick leave per annum, (1) week of MyLeave.
