Information Governance Officer

- 6-month contract opportunity based in the CBD- immediate start
- Hourly rate of $58.92 p.h plus 12% super

About the role

The Information Governance Officer provides efficient information access, privacy, sharing and data breach services, in compliance with relevant legislation including the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024. (Experience/ knowledge of the Acts is essential for this position). You will engage at all levels to support the compliance with legislative requirements to provide access to information.

What this role will involve

- Support the FOI services in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and other relevant legislation, including by planning and actioning requests for information access, including search coordination, stakeholder consultation and preparation of Notices of Decision.
- Monitor and report on FOI compliance, performance and emerging issues, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Support the Co-Ordinator Information Governance by planning and actioning requests relating to personal information and information sharing, assisting with Privacy Impact Assessments and Information Sharing Agreements, and promoting compliance with Information Privacy and Responsible Sharing Principles.
- Assist in the coordination and response to information and data breaches, including investigation, mitigation and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide research and advice on information security risks, controls and compliance obligations in collaboration with ICT, Legal, Risk and other stakeholders.




- Support delivery of initiatives and projects that enhance information management capability across the organisation.

About you

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering services under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and understanding of Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 principles and requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide transparent, practical advice to a range of stakeholders.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation to operational matters.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Management or a related discipline, and/or equivalent experience.
