About the role

Azalea Care Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Narrabundah, ACT. We will prefer someone local or from Around Narrabundah.

This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with various disabilities, helping them to maintain independence, develop life skills and participate fully in their communities.

This role is fundamental to our mission of delivering person-centred care and support services that enhance the quality of life for those we serve.

Key responsibilities

- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation

- Support clients in accessing community activities, recreational programmes and social engagement opportunities

- Assist with mobility and safe transfer techniques using appropriate equipment and procedures

- Help clients develop and maintain life and independence skills through patient coaching and encouragement

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided and client progress

- Communicate effectively with clients, families, colleagues and management about client needs and wellbeing

- Follow and comply with all relevant policies, procedures, legislation and duty of care requirements

- Contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive environment that values the dignity and rights of all clients

- Respond sensitively and appropriately to challenging behaviours and situations





- Work collaboratively with the wider support team to achieve client goals and outcomes

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues

- Patience, empathy and emotional resilience when working with individuals who may have complex needs

- Physical capability to assist with personal care and mobility support as required by the role

- Reliability, punctuality and the ability to maintain professional boundaries

- A valid Australian driver's license and access to reliable transport (desirable)

- Willingness to undertake relevant training and certifications, including first aid and disability support training

- Police check clearance and commitment to working within child safe and adult protected principles

- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services or a related field is highly valued

- Current or willingness to obtain relevant qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Disability Support
