About the role

Able Disability Support Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Lake Macquarie, NSW. This is a casual position that offers flexibility while making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Note: This specific vacancy is open to female applicants, as the participant has requested a female support worker to ensure their comfort, choice, and control.

As a Support Worker, you will be at the heart of our service delivery, providing essential support to help clients achieve their goals, maintain their independence, and participate fully in their communities. This role is fundamental to our mission of empowering people with disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

Key responsibilities

* Providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and household tasks.

* Supporting clients with community participation and social inclusion activities.

* Assisting clients with mobility, transportation, and accessing local services.

* Maintaining detailed and accurate records of support provided and client progress.

* Communicating effectively with clients, their families, and other team members regarding support needs and outcomes.

* Promoting client dignity, respect, and independence in all interactions.

* Following individualised support plans and implementing agreed strategies and goals.

* Supporting clients to develop life skills and build confidence.

* Maintaining a safe and clean setting for clients.

* Adhering to health and safety protocols and legislative requirements.

What we're looking for

* Gender-specific support:



This role requires a female applicant to meet the participant’s specific request for gender-specific support, ensuring their preference for choice and control is respected.

* Willingness to travel: Must have a reliable vehicle, a current driver’s licence, and be willing to travel to various client locations within the region.

* Insurance: Must hold current full comprehensive car insurance for any vehicle used to transport clients.

* Compliance: Must have or be willing to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Working With Children Check (WWCC).

* A mature, professional approach to care.

* A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and empathetically with diverse individuals.

* Reliability and a strong commitment to attendance, which is vital for our casual team.

* The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

* Physical capability to assist with mobility support and personal care tasks.

* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of our clients.

* A clear understanding of and commitment to duty of care, confidentiality, and client rights.

* Previous experience in disability support, aged care, or community services is highly valued.

* Relevant qualifications (Certificate III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, or Community Services)



are preferred but not essential.

* Current First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous.
