An exciting prospect has become available for an experienced Operational Risk or Enterprise Risk professional to join a leading APRA-regulated financial services organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Working within the second line Enterprise Risk function, you will play a key role in providing independent oversight and challenge across financial and insurance risk. This role is ideal for someone with a strong operational risk background who has partnered closely with Finance, Actuarial or Commercial teams and is looking to broaden their exposure to financial risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide second line oversight and independent challenge across financial and insurance risk.
- Partner with Finance, Actuarial and Commercial stakeholders to strengthen risk management practices.
- Review and challenge risk assessments, controls and mitigation strategies to ensure risks remain within appetite.
- Support the ongoing enhancement and embedding of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Monitor risk appetite metrics, key risk indicators and control effectiveness.
- Conduct targeted assurance activities and oversee incidents, issues and remediation relating to financial risk.
- Assist in preparing high-quality risk reporting for Executive and Board Risk Committees.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial risk policies, standards and governance documentation.
- Influence and support the business in adopting effective and pragmatic risk management practices.
Key Requirments:
I'm keen to speak with experienced Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk or Non-Financial Risk professionals who have developed strong partnerships with Finance, Actuarial or CFO functions.
- Around 7+ years' experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk or Financial Risk within an APRA-regulated environment.
- Experience supporting Finance, Actuarial, Capital Management or Commercial functions from a second line risk perspective.
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, governance and assurance.
- Experience reviewing and challenging first line risk activities, controls and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of APRA prudential standards, including CPS 220, with exposure to CPS 230 highly regarded.
- Experience with Risk Appetite Statements, key risk indicators, control testing and Board or Executive risk reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and provide practical, commercial risk advice.
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
General insurance experience is highly regarded, although candidates from banking, wealth management or other APRA-regulated financial services organisations are encouraged to apply.
