Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal invites applications for the role of Shipping Officer. This position is based at the terminal in Burnett Heads, Queensland and is a critical part of the ship‑to‑shore interface, ensuring vessels are safely berthed, loaded and sailed.
What you’ll be doing
- Coordinating safe and efficient berthing, loading and sailing of vessels.
- Managing shipping documentation and ensuring compliance with Terminal Regulations and legislative requirements.
- Conducting vessel vetting and verifying cargo allocations.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders such as agents, pilots, tugs and planners.
- Collaborating across teams to optimise vessel schedules and respond to operational changes.
- Monitoring weather and operational risks to support safe decision‑making.
- Identifying opportunities to improve shipping and vessel management processes.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in maritime operations or bulk loading environments.
- Robust understanding of safety and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving capability.
- Ability to work a rotating roster across days, afternoons and nights.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, make sound decisions and stay focused in a dynamic operational environment.
- Eligibility to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
