Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

We currently have an opportunity for a Network Engineer JP9101 in Canberra, ACT to work on secure Defence communications and network engineering projects.

What You’ll Do

- Perform network engineering activities across voice, video and data systems, including converged communications environments.
- Support the design, integration and assurance of secure Defence LAN, WAN and communications network architectures.
- Conduct network and communications requirements analysis and ensure traceability to system‑level capability needs.
- Review and develop network engineering documentation and artefacts in accordance with Defence and IC3SPO standards.
- Provide specialist technical input to stakeholders and contractor deliverables across the project lifecycle.

What You’ll Bring

- Tertiary qualifications in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or a related discipline.




- Chartered Professional Engineer status (or the ability to attain chartership) with a recognised professional body.
- Demonstrated experience in Defence or secure communications and network engineering environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Experience working with Defence engineering frameworks, including the ASDEFCON Suite.
- Current AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth; compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be required.
- A solid work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes for our clients.
