About This Opportunity
The primary purpose is to execute the mechanical maintenance function at VIP Packaging Brendale, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
The successful applicant is to be an integral part of a small but agile team maintaining a range of plastic blow moulding equipment and robotic packaging automation, with scope to learn and grow. The role works closely with production personnel and focuses on achieving maximum site performance results.
Shift
Rotating day / afternoon shift roster (no night shift).
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in relevant WHS campaigns that actively drive a culture of behavioural safety and preventative safety measures and activities.
- Maintain quality standards and controls to manufacture and produce packaging solutions that meet customer expectations and requirements.
- Ensure that work is carried out in a secure working manner (Take5 & LOTO) and maintain protected working environments.
- Immediately report instances of near misses or incidents.
- Complete scheduled tasks and mechanical breakdown tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Work independently at times but also as part of a team to achieve the best outcome for the business.
- Scope, complete,
record and close out work using MEX Works Orders.
- Support the production team.
- Liaise with Electrical Trades where required.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects to achieve improved Safety, Productivity, Quality & Reliability.
- Maintain spare parts inventory as required.
- Have a developed safety awareness and ability to work within a strong safety culture.
- Have an analytical ability to fault find and diagnose problems.
- Have written & verbal communication skills.
- Problem solve with a cost effective solution that maximises production uptime.
- Prioritise safety above all else.
- Improve machine availability by working with the Maintenance Supervisor on Preventative Maintenance programs.
- Use human resources efficiently – logged vs available hours are maximised.
- Continuously improve machinery safety and safe working practices.
Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of "good practice" preventative maintenance strategies.
- Hydraulic and Pneumatics experience.
- Trades qualified Fitter or equivalent.
