Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, you will assist in the provision of an effective and efficient pathology service. You will contribute to the provision of high quality and efficient services within the multidisciplinary Whyalla Laboratory by performing routine diagnostic tests in the disciplines of Microbiology, Haematology, Transfusion and Clinical Chemistry. Performing specimen registration, test resulting, reporting and validation where required, you will also perform cell morphology screening with differential cell counts on abnormal automated CBE results.
You will contribute to laboratory operations by operating equipment and performing routine maintenance, and assist the Laboratory Manager in training, supervising and coordinating staff and workflow as required. Our 19 laboratories are distributed throughout South Australia’s metropolitan and regional hospitals and are supported by more than 55 conveniently located patient collection centres.
Appointment at the TGO1 level requires an appropriate technical qualification - a Certificate or Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent. With prior experience in phlebotomy and a multidisciplinary pathology laboratory, you will have a high level of knowledge in at least one area of diagnostic pathology. You will have the ability to communicate effectively and work well with others, and to organise and prioritise work within limited time constraints.
