The RoleReporting to the Director of Wellbeing, the College Counsellor provides professional counselling services to students across the College, working closely with staff, families and external providers to support positive wellbeing and learning outcomes.

This role is full-time during term time, with availability required during breaks for critical incidents if needed.

Key responsibilities

- Provide individual and small group counselling using evidence-informed approaches
- Assess and respond to student wellbeing risks, including the development of safety plans
- Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and learning enhancement teams
- Support students and families through referral pathways to external services
- Contribute to student wellbeing programs, initiatives and prevention strategies
- Provide guidance and support to staff in responding to student wellbeing needs
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with professional standards
- Assist in crisis and critical incident responses across the College

To be successful you will possess: You are a qualified and experienced professional who is passionate about supporting young people and working within a school community. You bring:

- Registration as a Counsellor, Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker
- A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check), or eligibility to obtain one (not required for applicants with AHPRA registration)
- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Guidance Counselling, Social Work or related discipline
- Experience working with children and/or adolescents




- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with students, families and staff
- A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- High levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- A commitment to ongoing professional learning
- Experience in an educational setting (highly regarded)
- A demonstrated understanding of, and ability to maintain, appropriate professional boundaries and standards of conduct when working with children and young people
