We have an exciting opportunity for a Coordinator Cultural Planning and Public Art to join our Blacktown Arts team on a term contract,



full‑time basis up to December 2027. The role is within the City Living directorate and will work closely with the leadership team of Arts and Cultural Development to provide city‑wide leadership and project management across cultural strategy and public art. The Coordinator will influence and shape several ambitious public art projects associated with Council’s transformational projects, including the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant projects.

The Coordinator Cultural Planning and Public Art is responsible for providing key specialist advice to Council on arts and cultural planning and for achieving a whole of Council commitment to the advancement of arts and cultural development within Blacktown City. The role is also responsible for oversight of Council’s public art policy to guide the effective commissioning, procurement, and management of public art projects across Council departments, ensuring best practice public art delivery to Council and the community.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

- Degree qualification in a related field
- Solid working experience in cultural planning, community engagement and stakeholder consultation in an arts or cultural development context
- Solid working experience in public art planning, strategy, delivery, and reporting
- Experience in leading teams to develop and deliver public art projects and arts programs




- Strong project management, communication, and negotiation skills
- Current class C driver’s licence
- Working with Children’s Check

Desirable:

- Experience working in local government
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

- Entry level for this position starts at $2,338.60 per week
- 35‑hour working week
- Car allowance
