**About the role**:
A highly rewarding opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as the Work Education Teacher! **Full time and part time opportunities available for 12 month fixed term contracts.**

The Work Education Teacher provides high quality, creative and compliant teaching, and course materials to students with intellectual disabilities and/or cognitive impairments. The Work Education Teacher supports student success in Certificate I in Transition Education, Certificate I and II in Work Education, Course in and Certificate I in Initial Adult Literacy and Numeracy courses, thereby improving their work readiness, supported/open employment and/or educational pathways.

The Work Education Teacher delivers planned lessons using a variety of methods including Moodle, to engage students and meet their learning styles and needs, as well as providing a safe and supportive learning environment that enables students to successfully complete their qualification. They will also have the opportunity to complete workplace visits during work placements when necessary.

The Work Education Teacher is a member of the Work Education unit in the Foundation Education College. The Work Education unit forms partnerships on behalf of BHI with Disability Service Providers and Disability Enterprises and delivers accredited training to their participants and employees as well as to direct entry students.

**About You**:
The Qualifications and Expertise required for the **Work Education Teacher role **are**:

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)



or a higher teaching qualification in adult education; or VIT Registration (Secondary Teaching) plus the Assessor Skill Set.
- Demonstrable expertise in teaching in the special education field. This expertise can be demonstrated by either holding a formal qualification or evidencing relevant knowledge, theories, methods, and practices in teaching learners with a range of permanent cognitive impairments/intellectual disabilities through a combination of activities such as**:ongoing relevant professional development, engagement with disability teacher networks, peer review of teaching/third party report detailing performance, documented relevant teaching experience.

The Work Education Teacher will also possess experience in and understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to utilise learning management systems as well as being able to demonstrate a passion for knowledge sharing. In addition, they will possess the ability to design and deliver engaging and relevant course materials and lessons whilst working collaboratively within a team, contributing to the positive work environment and culture.
