**Primary Purpose**:
We are seeking a skilled GIS Spatial Analyst to join our Risk and Capability team in a dynamic, fast-paced emergency services environment, providing essential support for GIS operations during the Fire Danger Season.
As the GIS Support Officer, you'll be based at the Emergency Services Sector (ESS) Headquarters in Keswick near the Adelaide CBD, where you'll collaborate with key stakeholders in SACFS Operations and other emergency services departments to ensure streamlined and effective coordination.
This position offers the opportunity to enhance your skills in operational systems, incident analysis, and mapping, while making a direct impact on emergency response efforts.
- Provision of high-level technical support and information to SACFS, through the capturing, monitoring and management of the SACFS Geographic Information System (GIS) and data
- Provision of effective, current and proficient spatial/GIS database and appropriate systems to store, analyse and manage relevant data, including the Bushfire Risk Information Management System (BRIMS).
- Provision of reliable, complete and accurate information support for operational, project and policy users both internal and external to SACFS in terms of appropriate GIS techniques, data and map production.
- Spatial Data exchange processes, with various stakeholders and external parties, are proactive, efficient and contribute to accurate data recording,
to ensure that quality is maintained and that data standards are met.
- Mapping tools and resources are current, add value to decision making and assist SACFS with addressing service requirements.
- Provision of qualified maps and metadata library to support SACFS in the provision of services to the Community.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of systems for spatial data capture, data storage and data analysis relevant to the SACFS to ensure staff and volunteers have ready and reliable access to spatial data sets and associated analysis.
- Contribute to the provision of advice to the State Bushfire Coordination Committee, Bushfire Management Committees, and stakeholders on bushfire management planning and bushfire risk mapping.
- Contribute to the development of information, training and education materials/tools for SACFS personnel to ensure all available information is used in decision making processes within SACFS.
**Essential Qualifications**:
- A tertiary qualification at Diploma (AQF 5) level or above in a Geospatial Science discipline or a relevant discipline
**Remuneration**:
ASO5
$85,790 - $95,413
