About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Automotive Spray Painter to join the team at Accident Repair Centre Dandenong. This is a full-time position based in Dandenong South, VIC 3175. As an Automotive Spray Painter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality finishing work on vehicles, ensuring that all paintwork meets industry standards and customer expectations. This position is essential to our operations, as the quality of spray painting directly impacts the overall satisfaction of our clients and the reputation of our repair centre.

Key responsibilities

1. Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, stripping and masking to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality

2. Mix and apply primer, base coats and clear coats using spray equipment, following manufacturer specifications and safety protocols

3. Colour match vehicle paint to ensure consistency and seamless repairs on all painted surfaces

4. Operate and maintain spray painting equipment, including compressors, spray guns and ventilation systems

5. Inspect completed paintwork for defects, runs, sags or imperfections and perform remedial work as required

6. Adhere to all workplace health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment

7. Maintain accurate records of materials used and time spent on each vehicle

8. Collaborate with other team members, including panel beaters and technicians, to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs

9. Keep the spray booth and surrounding work areas clean and organised

What we're looking for

1. Formal qualification or certification in automotive spray painting (or equivalent demonstrated experience)

2. Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in automotive spray painting or similar automotive refinishing role

3. Strong knowledge of paint systems, primers, base coats,



clear coats and colour matching techniques

4. Proficiency in operating spray equipment and paint mixing systems

5. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes

6. Solid understanding of vehicle preparation techniques and surface protection methods

7. Ability to work efficiently within tight timeframes whilst maintaining quality standards

8. Valid driver's license and reliable transport to and from the workplace

9. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

10. Commitment to workplace health and safety standards

11. Preferred: Experience with water-based paint systems and environmentally conscious practices
