Position: Welding Supervisor/Deputy Welding Coordinator

Standard Reference: ISO 3834 Part 2, Lloyds Register and DNV Rules

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Welding Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and controlling welding activities to ensure

compliance with ISO 3834 quality requirements, applicable codes, customer specifications, and project requiremThe role ensures that all welding operations are performed consistently, safely, and to the required quality stanAssisting the welding coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

1. WELDING CONTROL

• Supervise all welding and associated activities in accordance with ISO 3834 requirements

• Ensure welding operations are carried out using approved Welding Procedure Specifications.

• Verify that welding parameters, consumables, and techniques comply with qualified procedures

• Coordinate welding activities with production, quality, and engineering teams

• Liaise and report all daily welding activities with the welding coordinator.

2. PERSONNEL QUALIFICATION AND SUPERVISION

- Ensure welders and welding operators are qualified, certified,



and current for the processes and materia
- Monitor welding performance and provide technical guidance where required

• Support training and skills development programs

3. EQUIPMENT, CONSUMABLES, AND MATERIALS

• Ensure welding equipment is suitable, calibrated, maintained, and fit for purpose

• Verify correct storage, handling, and traceability of welding consumables

• Confirm base materials are correctly identified, stored, and issued according to specifications

• Ensure consumable stock is maintained.

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE AND DOCUMENTATION

• Ensure implementation and maintenance of the ISO 3834 welding quality system

• Review and maintain welding records, including:

WPS / PQR documentation

Welder qualification records

Consumable certificates

• Coordinate inspections, testing, and NDT activities as required

• Participate in internal and external audits related to welding quality

5. INSPECTION, TESTING, AND COMPLIANCE

• Ensure welds are inspected according to approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)

• Coordinate destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements

• Identify non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence

• Support pressure testing, load testing, and final acceptance activities

6. HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENT

• Ensure welding activities comply with HSE policies, secure work procedures, and legal requirements.

• Promote safe working practices and proper use of PPE.

• Report and assist in investigating welding-related incidents or near misses.
