AKM Group is a well-established group of businesses operating across recycling and waste collection and precast concrete manufacturing. We work with major builders and commercial clients across South-East Queensland.

Location

Our office is in Pinkenba. Look it up before you apply so you don’t spend your life commuting. Unfortunately, there is no public transport available - so only apply for the job if this location suits you.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Director, you will lead the accounts team and own the finance function across all entities. You’ll be responsible for financial reporting, payroll, compliance, cash flow and commercial analysis – but you’ll also be on the tools with your team when deadlines hit or when the work gets complex.

This is a senior role, but it’s not a corner-office one. The Director wants someone who knows how to manage people and gets things done themselves.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Overseeing month-end close and consolidated management reporting across three trading entities in MYOB and other related entities

- Leading and developing a small accounts team – setting direction, coaching and jumping in when needed

- Managing payroll end-to-end, payroll liabilities and industry award compliance

- Building and maintaining cash flow forecasts,



financial models, and loan/equipment finance schedules

- Reviewing commercial contracts and supporting the Director with pricing decisions and cost-recovery frameworks

- Coordinating with external accountants for BAS, tax and year-end obligations

- Documenting processes, improving systems, and keeping the finance function tight and reliable

What We’re Looking For:

- 5+ years in a finance management or senior bookkeeping role. CA/CPA qualification or solid practical experience that speaks for itself

- Proven experience leading a team and getting results through people

- Hands-on MYOB experience

- Strong Excel skills – you build the models, you don’t just use them

- Payroll management experience and working knowledge of STP compliance

- Ability to communicate across all business units, with a sound, can-do attitude

- A resilient personality and good sense of humour
