National Seniors Australia

Brisbane

National Seniors Australia is seeking a commercially minded and relationship-driven Business Development Manager to identify, secure and grow new partnerships, advertising revenue, sponsorships and corporate membership opportunities that support our financial sustainability and expand our impact for older Australians.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys opening doors, building new meaningful commercial relationships, and creating partnership opportunities that deliver genuine value — not only for partners, but for members, communities and the broader organisation.

About National Seniors Australia

National Seniors Australia is the leading not-for-profit supporting older Australians. We advocate fearlessly on the issues that matter, provide trusted information and services, and deliver member value through our programs, partnerships, insurance services, discounts and community engagement activities.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for building a strong pipeline of current commercial opportunities across partnerships, advertising, sponsorships and corporate memberships.

You will work closely with internal teams to develop compelling commercial propositions, negotiate mutually beneficial agreements, and ensure new opportunities align with National Seniors Australia’s strategy, advocacy agenda, trusted brand and member interests.

This role will suit someone who is proactive, confident and commercially astute, with the ability to identify opportunities, influence senior decision-makers and progress prospects through longer sales cycles.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

- Identify, qualify and pursue new partnership, advertising, sponsorship and corporate membership opportunities.

- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective partners, with explicit targets, actions and revenue forecasts.

- Develop compelling commercial proposals that demonstrate value for partners while protecting NSA’s brand and member trust.

- Grow corporate membership opportunities across employers, community organisations, care providers, retirement living operators and aligned brands.

- Negotiate commercial terms,

partnership agreements and renewals.

- Build strong relationships with senior decision-makers and external stakeholders.

- Work closely with our marketing and finance teams, Partner Relationship Manager, and the executive leadership teams to support successful partnership delivery.

- Maintain accurate records and provide regular reporting on activity, conversion, revenue performance and KPIs.

About you

You will bring:

- Proven business development, sales, partnerships, advertising or sponsorship experience.

- Strong commercial acumen and experience developing proposals, negotiating agreements and managing revenue targets.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create persuasive pitches and presentations.

- Confidence building relationships with senior stakeholders and representing an organisation externally.

- Strong organisation, follow-through and pipeline management skills.

- Experience using excel and reporting tools.

- A proactive, resilient and outcomes-focused approach.

Experience in a member-based organisation, financial services, association, advocacy body, not-for-profit, sponsorship, advertising, corporate membership or partnership activation environment would be highly regarded.

Why work with us?

At National Seniors Australia, you will be joining a purpose-driven organisation with a respected national brand, a trusted audience and a strong commitment to creating better outcomes for older Australians.

This role offers the opportunity to:

- Make a meaningful impact by helping grow commercial partnerships that support advocacy, services and value for older Australians.

- Work with a trusted national organisation with a long-standing reputation and strong connection to its members.

- Shape a growing function by identifying new markets, partnership models and revenue opportunities.

- Use your commercial skills for purpose, developing partnerships that are financially sound, ethical and aligned with member interests.

- Collaborate across the organisation with marketing, advocacy, membership, insurance, community and leadership teams.

- Build senior-level relationships with partners, sponsors, employers, community organisations and aligned brands.

- Contribute to organisational sustainability, helping diversify revenue and strengthen NSA’s independence and long-term impact.

- Be part of a values-led culture built on excellence, fairness, respect, integrity, accountability and outcomes.

Success in this role

Success will be demonstrated through a stronger and more diversified revenue pipeline, increased partnership and corporate membership income, high-quality partner relationships, and commercial opportunities that clearly contribute to National Seniors Australia’s financial sustainability, advocacy reach and member value.
