We're hiring! Psychologist — Neurodiverse Playhouse, Spring Hill
Come work somewhere that actually gets it.
The gig: Subcontracted Psychologist (ABN, your own boss, our admin team)
Where: Spring Hill, Brisbane — comfy rooms, good coffee nearby, free street parking if you know where to look
When: You tell us. Pick your days, your hours, your caseload.
The money: Competitive split, paid fortnightly, no chasing invoices.
Who we are
Neurodiverse Playhouse is a Spring Hill practice for neurodivergent kids, teens, and the families who love them.
We're neuroaffirming, play-based, and unapologetically not in the business of teaching kids to mask, comply, or perform neurotypicality.
We're also curious clinicians — we keep an eye on emerging evidence and aren't afraid to learn alongside our clients.
What you'd actually do
Show up, see your clients, do great work. We handle the rest — referrals, bookings, billing, Medicare and NDIS claims, the cranky printer, all of it. You get to focus on the clinical work and go home at a reasonable hour.
You'll fit right in if you...
- Hold general AHPRA registration as a Psychologist (no conditions or restrictions — sorry, this one's non-negotiable, the regulators are watching)
- Have your ABN, skilled indemnity insurance, NDIS Worker Screening, Blue Card, and a recent Police Check sorted
- Can get (or already have) a Medicare provider number
- Light up when you talk about working with neurodivergent kids
- Think "deficit model" is a phrase that belongs in a museum
- Are comfortable working autonomously but enjoy having clever colleagues to debrief with
- Are curious about emerging adjunct therapies — including TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)
and Red Light Therapy / photobiomodulation — and keen to expand your understanding of the evidence base as it develops
Bonus points for
- Area of Practice Endorsement (clinical, ed & dev, or counselling)
- Board-approved supervisor status
- Autism and ADHD assessment experience — especially with girls, AFAB folks, and late-identified clients who've spent decades being told they're "just anxious"
- Play therapy, PDA-informed, polyvagal-informed, ACT, or interest-based learning chops
- NDIS report-writing stamina
- Prior exposure to TMS, photobiomodulation, neurofeedback, or other emerging neuromodulation approaches
- Lived experience of neurodivergence (we see you, and we're glad you're here)
What you get from us
- A steady stream of referrals from families who actually want neuroaffirming care
- An admin team that treats you like a human, not a billing unit
- Sensory-considered rooms designed by people who know why fluorescent lights are a war crime
- Peer consults with a team that won't make you justify why you don't use star charts
- Opportunities to learn about and engage with emerging evidence-based adjuncts like TMS and Red Light Therapy as we expand the practice's offering
- Optional clinical supervision
- Total control over your schedule
- Fortnightly pay, transparent splits, no surprises
Sound like your kind of place?
Send your CV, your AHPRA reg number, and a short note about how you work with neurodivergent clients.
Or skip the formality and call Melissa for a chat first — we don't bite, and we're genuinely nice to talk to.
We warmly welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander psychologists, neurodivergent clinicians, LGBTQIA+ clinicians, and people from all cultural backgrounds. If you need any adjustments to the application process, just ask.
Pay: From $1,000.00 per week
Work Location: In person
