**_ About the site_**

Glenbrook is a co-generation plant located at Glenbrook, south of Auckland, Current Zealand. The Glenbrook Power Station is fully integrated into the New Zealand Steel’s ironmaking plant, supplying around 60% of their electricity requirements.

Waste heat and byproduct gases from the ironmaking plant are used to generate steam and electricity. Since this partnership reduces the electricity imported from New Zealand electricity grid, it displaces electricity generated at the margin including fossil fuelled power stations - thereby reducing carbon emissions.

**_ Your part in it_**

An exciting prospect has arisen within Alinta Energy's Glenbrook Power Station for a Plant Operator. Starting at the Boiler Attendant role we are offering a fantastic chance to learn and gain qualifications to operate diverse plant and equipment to work up towards the Shift Supervisor role.

**_ A full training program including NZQA Energy and Chemical Plant qualifications and inductions will be in place, will cover:_**
- The Iron making process and integration with the co-generation plants.
- Steam turbine and advanced steam boiler operations.
- Plant monitoring and responding to process changes.
- Controlling boiler and cooling water chemistry.
- Report, troubleshoot and carryout fault finding and investigations.

**_What you’ll bring to it _**
- Reliable and motivated to work as part of a shift team covering 24/7 plant operation
- Self-motivated and eager to achieve qualifications in Boiler and Turbine Operations
- Able to perform well as part of an effective team under pressure
- Have a strong technical aptitude - a trade, engineering or heavy industry experience will be highly considered
- Previous experience in the Power Generation (or similar) would be beneficial but not essential

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and motivated individual who is looking to develop or continue their career in the Power Generation industry.
