Position – Mechanical Engineer Location – Cranbourne West, Victoria 3977 Salary - $75,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent THE ROLE: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to assist with the design, development and optimization of mechanical components and systems, supporting prototyping, testing and production processes while ensuring solutions meet client specifications, quality standards and operational requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: · Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and products using CAD software to meet client specifications and functional requirements. · Review product designs to ensure they can be effectively manufactured using 3D printing methods such as FDM, SLA and SLS. · Conduct engineering calculations, simulations and testing to assess performance, durability and material suitability of components and prototypes.
· Oversee the production of prototypes and end-use parts, ensuring accuracy, quality and adherence to technical drawings and design specifications. · Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods based on mechanical properties, cost efficiency and intended application. · Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical documentation and specifications to support manufacturing and quality control processes. · Liaise with clients, designers and internal production teams to interpret project requirements and provide technical advice on design optimization. · Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, reduce material waste and improve production efficiency. · Troubleshoot design and production issues, including print failures, tolerance discrepancies and materials performance challenges. · Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, engineering principles and workplace health and safety requirements. · Assist in research and development activities to explore new materials, technologies and processes within additive manufacturing. · Maintain accurate records of design iterations, testing results and production outcomes for continuous improvement and traceability. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: · Relevant qualification,
such as a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or higher (or closely related field). · Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) proven experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing, product design or prototyping environment. · Demonstrated experience in mechanical design using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar). · Understanding of additive manufacturing processes, including 3D printing technologies such as FDM, SLA or SLS. · Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and client requirements to develop practical engineering solutions. · Experience in testing, analysing and improving product designs for performance and manufacturability. · Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail. · Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. · Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements within an engineering or manufacturing setting. · You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
