Cape York Solutions (CYS) is seeking a motivated and community-focused Manager School to Jobs to lead a high-impact program supporting students to transition successfully from school into work experience, vocational training and long-term employment opportunities.

About the Role

As the Manager School to Jobs, you will lead the delivery and growth of the School to Jobs (S2J) program and oversee a small team of staff delivering mentoring, work readiness and employment pathway activities for First Nations young people.

You will work closely with schools, employers, training organisations, families and community stakeholders to ensure students are supported through every stage of their transition from school into employment.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, relationship management and the ability to support young people to participate in employment.

The role also involves operational support to students, including coordinating transport and,



at times, personally transporting students to workplaces, training providers or appointments. These activities may occur during or outside standard business hours depending on employer and student needs.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead and grow the School to Jobs program, supporting First Nations young people to transition from school into work experience, vocational training and employment pathways.
- Manage and mentor a small team to deliver student mentoring, work readiness activities and employment outcomes.
- Build strong partnerships with employers, schools and community stakeholders to create meaningful employment and training opportunities.
- Support students and families to prepare for workplace success.
- Coordinate program operations, including student engagement activities, transport logistics and career development initiatives.
- Promote the program within communities and maintain strong stakeholder relationships In Cairns.
- Monitor program outcomes, maintain reporting requirements and ensure compliance with organisational and funding obligations.

About You

You are a values-driven leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for First Nations young people.

You will bring:





- Experience managing programs, workforce development initiatives or community services.
- Experience leading and supporting a small team.
- A strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities impacting First Nations young people in education and employment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage effectively with schools, employers, students, families and communities.
- Experience developing partnerships and community engagement strategies.
- Knowledge of local labour markets, vocational pathways and employment opportunities.
- Robust organisational and people management capability.
- A practical and flexible approach to supporting young people in a dynamic environment.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Blue Card and ability to successfully complete a Police Check.

Desirable

- Qualifications in Education, Human Services, Business Administration or a related field
