Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Worker to join our Brighter Beginnings team in Marrickville, 2204. This is a part-time, fixed-term opportunity to be part of a values-led organisation committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families.

This is a 28 hours per week, fixed-term contract until December 2027. Hours are flexible and may vary depending on program needs.

About the Role
As a Community Engagement Worker, you will:

- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with identified ECEC settings.
- Provide timely information and practical advice to families and ECEC staff to respond to emerging needs or concerns.
- Design and deliver educational workshops and information sessions for educators, children and/or parents on relevant topics.
- Facilitate warm, supported referral pathways into the FCS program where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate written and electronic records in accordance with Barnardos policies and procedures, including B-HIVE and DEX data requirements. Complete all internal and external reports within the specified CAFS data collection and reporting guidelines and timeframes.

You’ll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed services that uphold child safety, cultural safety, and family-led practice.

Skills and Experience :

- Diploma of Community Services or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant experience.
- Sound understanding of client vulnerabilities, including drug and alcohol use, mental health challenges, and the impacts of trauma on children’s behaviour and development.
- Proven experience in administration, information provision, and client intake within a community-based setting.
- Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders and build effective, collaborative relationships with families, educators,



and community partners.
- Experience facilitating group work, workshops, or information sessions is desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities, including a robust understanding of cultural safety, self-determination, and the historical and contemporary factors that impact Aboriginal peoples.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence

What’s on Offer:
Base salary: $65,744 – $73,573 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation
Salary packaging: Up to $15,860 tax-free (general living expenses)
Meal & entertainment packaging: Additional $2,650 tax-free per FBT year
