About the role

nWe are seeking an experienced Agricultural Technician to support irrigated horticulture and field operations within a largescale onion production enterprise in regional South Australia. This is a handson, technically focused role suited to someone with strong centre pivot irrigation, machinery operation, and crop production experience.n

Main Responsibilities

nIrrigation & Water Managementn

n
- Daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of centre pivot irrigation
n
- systems
n
- Adjust irrigation programs based on weather, soil moisture, and crop stage
n
- Diagnose and repair irrigation faults including pumps, gearboxes, tyres,
n
- sprinklers, and control systems
n
- Operate fertigation systems and pump stations
n
- Conduct irrigation checks during highrisk periods
n

nCrop & Field Operationsn

n
- Support onion production including planting, monitoring, spraying, and harvest
n
- Conduct crop inspections for pests, disease, weeds, and nutrient deficiencies
n
- Operate boom sprays and pivot mounted spray systems
n




- Maintain accurate irrigation and spray records
n
- Assist with harvest, curing, loading, and logistics
n

nMachinery & Equipmentn

n
- Operate tractors, loaders, telehandlers, and specialist horticultural equipment
n
- Handle oversize machinery in compliance with South Australian regulations
n
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
n

nGeneral Farm & Team Supportn

n
- Maintain irrigation infrastructure, fences, sheds, and farm assets
n
- Assist with workshop repairs where skilled
n
- Provide task based leadership to seasonal staff
n
- Liaise with agronomists, contractors, and suppliers
n

nEducation / Experience / Skillsn

Essential

n

n
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in irrigated horticulture or row cropping
n
- Demonstrated centre pivot irrigation experience
n
- Robust machinery operation skills
n
- Chemical handling and spraying experience
n
- Ability to work independently
n

nDesirablen

n
- Onion or vegetable crop experience
n
- Mechanical or trade skills
n
- GPSguided machinery exposure
n
- HC or MC licence or willingness to obtain
n
