About the role

We are seeking a Drinking Water Quality Officer to support the front line delivery of Logan Water’s drinking water quality management framework. This role plays a key part in ensuring effective regulatory compliance, robust quality management systems and continuous improvement in drinking water quality outcomes.

Working within the Water Service Quality and Sustainability Program, you will provide technical advice in chemistry, microbiology and public health, analyse and interpret water quality data, and support the implementation and continual improvement of Logan Water’s Drinking Water Quality Management Plan. The role involves working closely with operational teams, system improvement specialists and external stakeholders to drive safe, consistent and high quality drinking water services for the community.

Key indicators

- Provide technical advice and guidance on drinking water quality management, including chemistry, microbiology and public health
- Support regulatory monitoring, compliance and reporting activities related to drinking water quality
- Analyse and visualise water quality data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
- Support the ongoing implementation and continual improvement of the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan and associated risk management actions
- Assist with managing customer enquiries and complaints related to drinking water quality, including development of proactive communication initiatives
- Support the development and implementation of drinking water HACCP systems and internal audits
- Contribute to incident investigations and support the development of preventative actions
- Provide technical support to Incident Management Teams and contribute to operational responses
- Work collaboratively across Logan Water to embed best practice drinking water quality management




- Participate in external forums and engage with industry stakeholders on drinking water quality matters

You’ll possess

- Degree qualifications or study towards a degree in Engineering, Business, Science, Environmental Health or a related discipline, or relevant experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills in a technical environment
- Experience working with data analytics and visualisation, including interpretation of technical and customer data
- Understanding or ability to develop knowledge in drinking water quality management and related regulatory frameworks
- Ability to contribute to the development and maintenance of quality management systems
- Strong communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and customer focused outcomes

Requirements

- Possession of a current C class driver licence
- Applicants must undergo a pre employment functional assessment and be assessed as able to meet the functional requirements of the position
- Participation in after hours on call duties may be required
- Possession of a valid and current Queensland Water Safety Card (Aquacard) or Council’s Hy5 training certificate or similar, otherwise obtain within the first 28 working days of employment.
