Anthem

Melbourne

Anthem is an independent entertainment marketing consultancy connecting audiences with live experiences across arts, culture and major events.

We start with passion, assemble the right minds and believe progress comes from courage, imperfection and creative tension.

We are experts, fans and lateral thinkers who are passionate about the arts, cooperative by nature and inclusive by design. We build teams around ideas, not hierarchy, and value people who care deeply about creating great work that makes a difference.

We're looking for an Accounting Manager to join Anthem's finance team. This role will be a key strategic and operational partner —a trusted leader with influence that reaches across the business. You bring integrity, attention to detail, professionalism, and are confident providing financial guidance at an executive level.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Financial Reporting and Compliance

- Own the month-end process and ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Maintain compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare regular financial updates and reports for the Chief Executive and Board, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and strategic investments.

- Manage a team of two outsourced accountants — a staff accountant and a bookkeeper.
- Partner with client-facing teams to provide detailed financial oversight across the full project lifecycle, from budgeting through to completion.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and actual costs to identify variances, risks, and margin impacts.
- Lead efforts to optimise financial performance, including cost management and revenue enhancement initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative environment, promoting open communication and information sharing

Audit and Financial Risk Management

- Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Identify and manage financial risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Maintain a comprehensive financial risk management framework to safeguard the agency’s financial assets.

ABOUT YOU

- CA or CPA qualification (or working towards) with significant financial reporting experience.
- Proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting within a dynamic organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial advice and insights to executive leadership.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing high-performing teams
- A collaborative,

solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving under pressure
- Calm and decisive when things get complex, bringing clarity and momentum to the team around you
- Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for culture, live performance, major events and the arts — and the industry knowledge and relationships to match

LIFE AT ANTHEM

At Anthem, we value Courage, Heart, Curiosity, and Imagination — and we try to live those values in the way we work every day.

- Our home: A smart, light-filled office on Exhibition Street in the Melbourne CBD — open plan, spacious, and in one of the city's best locations
- The perks of the industry: Regular tickets to shows, events and opening nights — because we believe in experiencing the work we love
- Flexibility: Mainly office-based with one day working from home each week
- Growth: A genuinely unique opportunity to help grow and shape the finance function, while we support the growth of the wider business.
- The team: A close-knit, passionate and cooperative team of 23 — big enough to do serious work, small enough that you'll genuinely make an impact
- Culture: Regular team events, social activities and a workplace where great work is celebrated and good people are valued

READY TO JOIN US?

Send your CV and a short cover letter telling us why this role, and why Anthem, feels like the right next step for you. Applications close March 25, 2026 but we’ll be reviewing as they come in.
