About the Role

As a Project Leader, you are responsible for leading and overseeing customer projects in line with SICK’s Customer Project Management (CPM) processes, covering pre-sales consultation, proposals, project engineering, execution, and handover. The role ensures projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.

This role will require you to engineer, train, manage and work with multiple internal and external teams ensuring that various expectations are met. It may be necessary to provide hands-on technical support when needed in the field and or in the office and train other staff. Proactiveness is a core requirement of this role. The Project Leader is expected to demonstrate strong ownership, maintain a visible presence through regular site visits, and communicate confidently via direct phone calls, formal presentations, and commercial discussions.

This role is based at our Melbourne office and reports to the CPM Manager.

You will:

- Lead end‑to‑end project delivery to ensure all customer projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.

- Coordinate scheduling, resources,



and project activities while maintaining strong customer communication and relationships through regular engagement and site visits.

- Support revenue generation by preparing accurate proposals, quotations, and invoices, and by identifying new opportunities in collaboration with sales teams.

- Provide technical leadership by designing fit‑for‑purpose engineered solutions, developing documentation, and ensuring compliance with standards, specifications, and internal tools.

- Build team capability through mentoring, clear communication, certification management, and proactive safety leadership.

- Maintain accurate and timely project reporting, using internal systems to track progress, costs, and key performance data.

- Foster a collaborative team culture that encourages open communication, shared problem‑solving, and effective cross‑functional cooperation.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

- Minimum five years’ experience with relevant technologies or industrial environments.

- Strong operational and project management capability, with experience in industrial automation environments

- Holds a degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics), a relevant trade qualification, or brings equivalent industry experience.

- Solid technical knowledge of sensor‑based systems, conveyor technologies, and related industrial solutions,



with the ability to develop and deliver engineered solutions.

- Proven customer‑facing skills, including managing expectations, resolving issues, and communicating confidently in technical and operational settings.

- Competence in planning, scheduling, prioritising tasks, and performing effectively under challenging conditions.

- Demonstrated leadership ability, including mentoring, coaching, and managing small technical teams.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP (PS module), CRM systems, and engineering control tools for reporting, documentation, and project tracking.
