Senior Accountant

- Full Time Permanent Prospect

Coal Services is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney.

This is a high-impact role suited to a confident Senior Accountant who thrives on delivering financial insight, driving operational improvement and partnering with stakeholders to influence decision-making.

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide high-quality planning, accounting and reporting support across multiple business units. You will play a key role in month-end processes, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.

You will join a close-knit team of four accountants within a broader Finance function, working collaboratively while maintaining strong ownership of your portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead month-end processes including journals, reconciliations and reporting

- Prepare and analyse management reports with clear, insightful commentary

- Deliver detailed expense management,



staff cost analysis and variance analysis

- Support annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes

- Prepare financial statements and support internal and external audit processes

- Ensure balance sheet integrity and strong financial governance

- Provide business partnering support to internal stakeholders

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency

About You

- CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent) with 5+ years post qualification experience, or 10+ years in a similar role

- Strong background in accounting, financial control and reporting

- Extensive experience in expense oversight, staff cost analysis and variance analysis

- Confident in balance sheet reconciliations and statutory reporting

- Experience working in medium to large Australian organisations

- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability

- Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience (MS Dynamics 365 advantageous)

- Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement focus
