About This Role

Provide confidential high-level legal secretarial support to the Solicitor-General including word processing, collation and organisation of legal materials and general office and document management Ongoing, full time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service Versatile work arrangements available

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an Executive Assistant, to provide a critical role within Office of the Solicitor-General.

About The Business Unit

The Solicitor-General is the Government's most senior professional legal advocate and advisor. The Solicitor-General provides advice to the Government on constitutional and other significant legal matters. The Solicitor-General also appears in court in all jurisdictions as senior counsel in significant cases where the Government is a party or is intervening.

The Office consists of the Solicitor-General, two Counsel Assisting the Solicitor-General, and the Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant provides key support to the Solicitor-General to ensure the smooth running of the Office. As the Records Management Contact Officer for the office, the appointee will be responsible for and support good recordkeeping practices within the Office of the Solicitor-General.

About The Role

This role is located in barristers' chambers.



The appointee may need to adjust hours of work at short notice to respond to emerging needs and to fit in with the Solicitor-General's timetable and the needs of the Office.

Some Of Your Duties Will Include

Manage the Solicitor-General's office and diary based on an ongoing assessment of priorities. Ensure any financial, procurement and information management activities are completed in accordance with DJCS policy and procedure. Support the Solicitor-General in accordance with existing delegations and administrative arrangements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Proven ability to provide high level legal secretarial services. Experience in working with limited supervision and in small teams Extensive experience using the Microsoft office suite, particularly Microsoft Word and OneDrive document management system. Solid working knowledge of public sector administrative processes and practices is highly desirable. Experience at handling confidential information.

Qualifications

Relevant experience in a similar Executive Assistant/administrative role is essential. Experience in the justice system and working with legal professionals is highly desirable.
