The Role
We are seeking two experienced and highly organised Head of Theatre and Dance Productions to lead the delivery of our highly regarded co-curricular theatre and dance program at our Caulfield and Wheelers Hill Campus. This pivotal role oversees the successful planning, coordination and execution of productions, ensuring both artistic excellence and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will produce and manage all co-curricular productions, support academic events as required, and direct one production within the performance season.
This is an ongoing teaching role with a 2-year position of responsibility (0.5 release time) commencing 1 January 2027.
Key Duties
- Provide end-to-end leadership of co-curricular productions, including scheduling, space management, production meetings, and coordination of rehearsal and performance logistics.
- Oversee all operational and financial processes, including budgets, contracts, purchase orders, invoicing, timesheets and compliance requirements.
- Manage technical and stagecraft operations across set, lighting, sound, costume and props, including supervision of technicians, backstage teams and student crews.
- Lead production communications, event administration and ticketing, while collaborating with Directors to promote productions across school platforms.
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale theatre and/or dance productions, ideally within an educational setting.
- Strong project management, organisational and financial management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder management capability.
- Experience directing or assistant directing productions is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with school management systems.
- VIT registration and secondary teaching qualifications, with current First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis certification.
