Austral Archaeology is excited to offer an exciting opportunity for an Archaeologist to join our Adelaide team on a full time basis. We have a large pipeline of exciting projects in western NSW, western Vic and SA. We are looking for someone who excels in project management or logistics. We are open to this role being based in Adelaide, hybrid or FIFO so welcome applications from across the country. Fieldwork in Adelaide is essential.

In a senior role, you will have the opportunity to mentor up and coming archaeologists as well as developing your own skills.

Over the past five years, Austral has expanded significantly, fostering a culture focused on passionate people developing their technical skills and growing their career. Our team consists of 25 permanent archaeologists, supported by an administration team, across three key locations in eastern Australia.

The ideal candidate will be driven, proactive, positive, and dedicated to continuous professional development. We are open to applications from Senior or mid-level archaeologists.

About You:

You hold a degree in archaeology or heritage management, with a strong drive for the field of heritage management. For this role, we are looking for someone who has experience and is strong in Project Management or Logistics.

You’re proactive, eager to learn, and excited about a consulting archaeology career. We're looking for someone who has 3 or more years of experience in heritage consulting. You should have experience in fieldwork, report writing, project management and work well as part of a thriving team.

The Role includes:

- Conduct research for heritage assessments.

- Engage with stakeholders.

- Can create strong professional relationships with local Traditional Owners.

- Lead archaeological surveys and excavations.

- Produce technical and assessment reports.

- In a Senior role, you would lead complex heritage management projects.
