ENGINEER DRAFTPERSON – STRUCTURAL STEEL DETAILING (Wetherill Park)

Draftsperson

OGTEC provides turnkey solutions to the Resource Recovery Sector. We are a market leader in the automated separation of waste materials into high-quality recycled materials.

OGTEC is currently seeking a skilled, motivated and experienced Draftsperson to join our high-performing team in our Wetherill Park office in Sydney. The candidate will be responsible for preparing engineering designs, drawings and related technical information in support of engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Undertaking initial drafting/detailing of the structure, ready for review by the engineer

• Creating drawings of building plans and structures using computer-aided design (CAD) software

• Reviewing blueprints and drawings to ensure they are accurate and complete

• Performing calculations to determine the number of materials needed for a job

• Communicating with contractors, engineers, or other members of the team to discuss project details





• Controlling documents such as the consultant’s drawings and email correspondence

• Maintaining records of costs, labour hours, and other data related to projects

• Determining the type of structural steel needed for a project based on design plans and building codes

• Producing detailed listings and spreadsheets within Tekla Structures • Understanding the entire fabrication and rigging process

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering, and Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in a manufacturing workplace

Other Skills/Abilities

• Have experience using Tekla and/or CAD software, or be prepared to learn on the job

• Solid design, component selection and product evaluation/validation experience highly desired

• Knowledge of steel fabrication methods is essential

• Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly

• Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
