Job Description: Chef/Cook
- Coordinating kitchen staff and assisting them as required
- Preparing and cooking the dishes as per the menu, recipes and the dietary requirements of our customers
- Following recipes and cooking techniques to meet the restaurant standards
- While preparing food, ensure to meet the special dietary requirements
- Storing food with the correct temperature including excess food to avoid spoilage.
- Checking food while cooking to stir or turn and season to adjust taste
- Regulating and cooking in different kitchen equipment like grill, oven, pan and other cooking equipment
- Taking stock of ingredients and equipment and placing orders as required
- Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet restaurant standards
- Handling food with extreme care to ensure food is protected from the possibility of contamination
- Keeping safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
- Changing the menu seasonally and adjust the menu prices according to the supplier’s price variations and in consultation with the senior management.
- Assisting senior managements in recruitment and selection processes.
- Training and mentoring kitchen staff
Skills and Qualifications
- At least Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management and a relevant Diploma
- At least 12 months of relevant work experience as a Chef
- Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques including various dietary requirements
- Ability to work in a team setting and experience in leading multi-cultural teams
- Have a strong track record during busy hours and in high volume event days with flawless management of Kitchen operations to expedite food delivery while ensuring standards are upheld
