The Director Budget is responsible for delivering strategic leadership and expertise in financial management, budgeting and quality management reporting to support financial sustainability and operational goals. You will partner with and support key stakeholders across the business in the development, management and oversight of the departmental budget, as well as developing a strong relationship with Queensland Treasury.

About The Role

As the Director, Budget, you will

- Provide expert financial advice to the Chief Finance Officer, senior leaders, and stakeholders to ensure effective departmental budget management and alignment with statutory requirements.
- Oversee the development and implementation of financial forecasts, resource allocation plans, and strategic financial strategies.
- Prepare financial performance reports, forecasts, and dashboards to support informed decision-making by executives and governance committees.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial trends, risks, and opportunities to provide actionable insights for strategic outcomes.
- Lead and empower a team of management accounting and budget professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, government agencies, and external stakeholders to achieve financial management goals.




- Develop innovative tools, efficient processes, and tailored training programs to enhance financial management capabilities.

What We Are Looking For

The position requires an applicant who has:

- Strong strategic thinking skills to translate organisational goals into actionable financial plans.
- Expertise in financial performance analysis, financial modelling, and developing guidelines for improved financial decision-making.
- Proven experience in leading change, managing teams, and fostering workplace readiness through effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration.
- Ability to represent the organisation in high-level financial negotiations and discussions with stakeholders, including Queensland Treasury.
